Interview Advice

  • Dress smart and look presentable.
  • Prepare prior to your interview (be knowledgeable about the company and its products and/or services)
  • Comes across as willing and very keen but not overly self confident
  • Always take with you anything that could support your job application for example qualifications, records of previous achievements etc, even if you are not asked for them
  • Let the employer know of your commitment to a long term career
  • Give the impression you are a warm and friendly person who is someone easy to work with
  • Try and give examples of past work areas where you have done similar work and performed identical responsibilities
  • Do discuss answers in full where possible, not just YES or NO – discuss your skills and abilities and what you have achieved previously
  • Research the company's website, to have a good feel and understanding of the company's business environment
  • Describe all your past jobs that are relevant to the opportunity, mention software you have used, your daily job functions and your capabilities
  • Once you have the answers to all your questions in full and at length the interviewer would have a clearer idea of the kind of person you are
  • Never put a past employer down, and don't ever talk negatively about a previous company
  • Never discuss past interviews, or employment disappointments
  • Demonstrate your willingness to join the team, your ability as a team player and managerial skills if you possess them
  • Prepare before the interview a few days before so that you have possible answers to questions that may be put forward to you, so you are covered should the company ask
  • Ask plenty of questions, to show you are interested in the company
  • Make sure you have a good night sleep the day before the interview
